So, like, the Health Minister Ong Ye Kung was all like, “Yo, I’m gonna totally keep an eye on the peeps in Sembawang and Woodlands if I get elected, you know?” He was talking about how awesome it is to have an MP who’s also a minister and how he’s been making all these sick moves as the health minister, like rolling out Age Well SG and hooking up the Active Ageing Centres with more cash money.
Dude saw that the Sembawang Active Ageing Centres were getting more love from the Ministry of Health, so he teamed up with some volunteers to pump up the activities for the seniors. He was stoked to see all his health policies going down in Outram Road and then landing in Sembawang to help out the locals.
Mr. Ong was all fired up at the PAP rally in Sembawang, talking about how the PAP MPs have been leveling up Sembawang with cool stuff like the Bukit Canberra community hub and the biggest Active SG gym in Singapore. He mentioned how the empty field in Admiralty is now home to the Yusof Ishak Mosque and the Woodlands Health hospital, with more rad projects on the way.
He called out the SDP, saying they think they can just swoop in and make all these changes happen even if they’re not the ones in charge. Mr. Ong was like, “Nah, bro, it takes a team effort, and the PAP is where it’s at.”
Besides Mr. Ong, there are four other PAP candidates on the Sembawang GRC team, including Mr. Vikram Nair, Ms. Mariam Jaafar, Mr. Gabriel Lam, and Mr. Ng Shi Xuan. They all got together with Ms. Poh Li San from Sembawang West SMC for a rally near Sun Plaza.
Mr. Ng was all about asking Mr. Ong if peeps with fat stacks in their MediSave accounts could flex a little more on their health expenses. He was chatting with a senior who brought up the idea, and Mr. Ong was like, “I’m down to check it out, let’s see what’s good.”
Ms. Mariam talked about how the team wants to make Sembawang even more lit for the young peeps, with new scholarships and the Store@Woodlands Programme to help out the low-income families. She was all about making sure the community is thriving now and in the future.
Mr. Lam was all about showing support for ex-cons and their families, hooking them up with jobs and laptops for their kids. He called them “overcomers,” which was pretty cool.
Ms. Poh was throwing some shade at the SDP, saying it’s not the time for “political experiments.” She was all about having a proven track record and making sure Sembawang West is on the right path.
