SingPost Appoints Industry Veteran as Group Chief Operating Officer

Singapore Post made waves on Thursday by announcing that Ms Neo Su Yin has been appointed as the new group chief operating officer (COO). In this newly created role, effective immediately, Ms Neo will be responsible for overseeing the company’s Singapore business unit, the international business unit, and property divisions, the national postal service provider shared in a media release on Thursday.

A Seasoned Leader Takes the Helm

Ms Neo will have the guidance of SingPost board chairman Simon Israel during what the company referred to as “transitional management arrangements.” SingPost emphasized the significance of the group COO role in translating transformation into tangible results, ensuring high-quality execution, and fostering a culture of innovation and continuous improvement. The company also highlighted that Ms Neo will play a key role in reviewing the international business unit.

An Impressive Track Record

Ms Neo’s journey with SingPost began in April 2019 when she joined as the vice president of customer experience. By November 2021, she had been appointed as the Singapore CEO, a role she held until May 2024. Prior to rejoining SingPost, she served as the managing director for Singapore at air and travel services provider dnata, overseeing ground handling and cargo operations at Changi Airport.

During her initial tenure at SingPost, Ms Neo played a pivotal role in a period of significant transformation for the Singapore postal system. She spearheaded enhancements in key operational areas such as last-mile delivery, digital transformation, and postal operations optimization. Before her time at SingPost, she held leadership positions at Changi Airport Group and the Republic of Singapore Navy, bringing over 20 years of experience in operations and customer experience to her new role.

A Fresh Start Amidst Challenges

Ms Neo’s appointment comes on the heels of SingPost’s decision to terminate three senior executives in December last year due to their conduct during internal investigations. The ousted executives, including the group CEO and CFO, have contested their dismissals, claiming they were unjust and unfair. SingPost’s board chairman defended the terminations as a carefully considered decision.

As Ms Neo embarks on her new role as group COO, she expressed her gratitude for the trust placed in her by the board and her commitment to driving business excellence and fostering a culture of accountability within SingPost. With her extensive experience and proven leadership, all eyes are on Ms Neo as she navigates the company through this period of change and growth.
