**Enhancing Community Spaces in East Coast: DPM Heng’s Latest Plan**

SINGAPORE: Deputy Prime Minister Heng Swee Keat has unveiled plans to introduce three new community spaces, known as PlayHubs, in East Coast GRC. These PlayHubs will feature exciting amenities such as adventure playgrounds, fitness zones, and pet areas, enhancing the recreational options for residents in the area. The announcement was made on Saturday, January 25, as part of the ongoing East Coast Plan.

Construction of the PlayHubs is set to commence in the second half of 2025, with locations identified at Block 84 in Fengshan, Block 135 and Block 138 in Kampong Chai Chee, as well as Block 6 and Block 15 in Bedok. These hubs will be interconnected by a network of walkways, providing residents with convenient pathways for walking and jogging.

**Community Initiatives and Support**

In addition to the PlayHubs, various community initiatives have been launched in East Coast GRC to foster a strong sense of community and well-being among residents. Initiatives such as Gd Lobangs @ KCC in Kampong Chai Chee have brought together merchants and small business owners to offer discounts, ensuring residents can make the most of their budget.

Moreover, digital literacy workshops held at East Coast community centers aim to empower seniors with essential technological skills, including cashless payments, social media usage, and scam prevention. Residents have also actively engaged in environmental conservation efforts through regular beach clean-ups at East Coast Park and Changi Beach, demonstrating their commitment to preserving the natural beauty of the area.

**Future Development and Infrastructure**

Looking ahead, Mr. Heng highlighted the ongoing development projects in East Coast under the Bayshore masterplan, aligning with the Housing and Development Board’s efforts to provide over 100,000 new flats in the past five years. The Bayshore development has generated excitement among residents, who eagerly anticipate the new amenities and facilities that will enhance their quality of life in the neighborhood.

In his address, Mr. Heng emphasized the importance of meticulous planning and unwavering determination in realizing these projects, underscoring the commitment of the government to deliver on its promises and improve the living standards of residents in East Coast GRC.

As the community looks forward to the implementation of these initiatives, the focus remains on creating inclusive, vibrant, and sustainable spaces that cater to the diverse needs and interests of the residents in East Coast.
