Singapore’s Ongoing Support for Gaza
Singapore has once again demonstrated its unwavering commitment to providing humanitarian aid to Gaza, as it recently handed over its sixth tranche of aid totaling about S$1.3 million (US$1 million), according to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. This latest contribution brings Singapore’s total donations to the Palestinian enclave to over S$19 million.
Continued Support from Rahmatan Lil Alamin Foundation
The Rahmatan Lil Alamin Foundation (RLAF) played a crucial role in this latest handover of aid, providing S$851,000 to the Jordan Hashemite Charity Organisation and S$435,000 to UNICEF. Second Minister for Foreign Affairs Mohamad Maliki Osman attended the ceremony in Jordan, emphasizing the strong friendship between Singapore and Jordan, which has enabled close cooperation in delivering humanitarian aid to Gaza.
Hopes for Ceasefire and Humanitarian Aid Delivery
Dr. Maliki expressed optimism that the recent ceasefire and hostage return agreement between Israel and Hamas would create an opportunity to escalate the delivery of humanitarian aid to Gaza, alleviating the immense suffering in the region. He also extended his gratitude to the RLAF for spearheading fundraising efforts in Singapore for humanitarian operations in Gaza.
Singapore’s Commitment to Humanitarian Relief
Looking ahead, Singapore remains dedicated to supporting humanitarian and relief efforts in collaboration with regional partners. Plans are already underway to send an air shipment of humanitarian supplies to Gaza in partnership with Jordan. Dr. Maliki reiterated Singapore’s stance on advocating for a two-state solution as the most viable path towards a comprehensive, just, and lasting resolution to the ongoing conflict.
In this time of crisis and uncertainty, it is heartening to see countries like Singapore stepping up to provide much-needed aid to those in need. As we witness the devastating impact of conflicts on innocent civilians, it is crucial for the international community to come together and support relief efforts in conflict zones like Gaza. Let’s take inspiration from Singapore’s proactive approach and find ways to contribute to humanitarian causes, no matter how big or small. Together, we can make a difference and bring hope to those who need it most.
