**O-Level 2024 Results: Record 87.7% Achieve At Least 5 Passes, Showing Progress**
In a significant stride forward, the 2024 GCE O-Level examinations saw an impressive 87.7% of students securing at least five passes, surpassing the previous year’s mark of 86.8%. The Ministry of Education (MOE) and Singapore Examinations and Assessment Board (SEAB) unveiled these results on Friday, impacting the lives of 22,661 candidates who undertook the examinations.
**Stepping Up Success Rates**
Out of the total number of candidates, an overwhelming 19,884 individuals managed to attain five or more O-Level passes, signifying a substantial improvement in academic performance. As students eagerly awaited their results, the atmosphere was charged with anticipation and excitement as they visited their secondary schools to collect their achievement certificates.
The statistics revealed a positive trend, with the proportion of students passing at least three subjects climbing to 97.3% from 96.7% in the previous year. Moreover, the percentage of students securing at least one pass remained consistently high at 99.8%, underscoring a commitment to academic excellence among Singapore’s youth.
**Navigating the Next Steps with JAE**
For students aspiring to pursue further studies at junior colleges, Millennia Institute, polytechnics, and the Institute of Technical Education (ITE), the Joint Admissions Exercise (JAE) offers a pivotal opportunity. Commencing from 4 pm on Friday, the JAE application period extends until Jan 15, enabling candidates to submit their preferred course selections.
Eligible candidates, both from schools and the private sector, received their application forms through registered email addresses, starting from 3 pm on Friday. Those qualified for JAE can also access the form on the JAE-Internet System using their Singpass during the application window.
