Creative Technology has appointed Mr Freddy Sim as its new CEO, taking over from his late brother and company founder, Sim Wong Hoo. The change in leadership took effect on Friday, May 16, with Mr Freddy Sim stepping into the role previously held by his brother until his passing in 2023. In a surprise move, the company announced that the new CEO will be receiving a meager monthly salary of S$1 (US$0.80), mirroring the same token amount his brother received during his tenure.
The Singapore-based company, established in 1981, is well-known for its Sound Blaster sound cards and digital entertainment products. Mr Freddy Sim expressed his gratitude for the appointment, acknowledging the legacy left by his brother and pledging to continue building upon the foundation laid out by Sim Wong Hoo.
